Welcome to the Images section of the Dawlish Sea Wall website. On this page you will find our 'Featured Picture' and links to the extensive photographic galleries of trains on the South Devon Sea Wall from the 1970s to the present. The images are grouped in decades and can be reached by the links of the right side. Direct links are provided from the main menu for the latest images of 2010 and 2011. Links are also provided on the right to galleries of images taken in the surrounding area - Exeter and Newton Abbot / Aller Junction. Dawlish Sea Wall - Featured Picture

A very rare visit of a Class 56 to the Dawlish Sea Wall took place on 20 January 2010, when Colas-operated, BAR-owned Class 56 No. 56312 Artemis powered train 6Z76, the 07.35 Tavistock Junction to West Ealing formed of track machine vehicles DR76601, DR92440 and DR92377. On the rear of the train was Colas Class 47 No. 47739. Even as early in the year as 20 January the sun was high enough to illuminate the railway along Marine Parade, where this image was recorded.
